The Void in Your Life
Jesus Christ can make you complete.
Every single human being is born with a void or with a hole in his or her soul. It is a hole that is there because of Adam. It is a hole that originally was not in mankind as Adam was created without that void in his soul. The spot that became the void was filled by the Spirit of God . It became a void when Adam sinned .
In his complete created state, Adam could walk with God, but when he sinned the void in his soul made him fear God. Instead of walking with God, Adam was hiding from God. He knew something was missing in his life.
Since that point in time, mankind has tried to fill that void with all kinds of stuff.
Mankind has tried to fill that void with riches , but God calls that person a fool.
Luke 12:19–20 “And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’”
Psalm 14:1 “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.”
If you literally interpret God’s Word, which is what we should do, you can honestly interpret God’s Word as saying that chasing fortune is an indication that a person has said in his or her heart that there is no God.
Mankind tries to fill that void with drugs, but drugs can never fill that void. Drugs bring destruction for a second of momentary satisfaction, but that momentary satisfaction does not fill the void.
Mankind tries to fill that void with alcohol, but alcohol leads to an unfulfilled life dependent upon a substance that will ruin you.
Proverbs 20:1 “Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is a brawler, And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.”
There is no such thing as an innocent drink. The drink that you think is innocent can lead you to a life of constantly filling that void with alcohol.
Man tries to fill the void in his life with pride, self-righteousness, and sexual perversion, but none of those lead to eternal satisfaction with the void remaining intact.
The void you have in your life can only be filled by what God intended to fill it in the first place, and that is the indwelling Holy Spirit which is available to you through Jesus Christ.
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,”
Jesus wants to fill the void in your life, but He will not do it arbitrarily. You have to come to Him in faith .
Acts 4:12 “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.””
The great thing about God is that He is looking for you in the same way that He was looking for Adam.
Luke 19:10 “for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.””
If you have still have that void in your life, Jesus Christ is seeking you this morning wanting to make you whole. When Jesus Christ finds you, and you have the faith to accept what He is offering, your life will be changed forever as you will never have to seek the things of this world to fill what is missing in your life.
I am telling you, dear friend, that void in your life can only be filled by Jesus Christ.
Listen. This is as serious as I can be.
The gospel is either a blessing to you, or it is a curse unto you.
2 Corinthians 2:15-17
15 For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? 17 For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.
Jesus Christ has done all He can for you. He is giving you the greatest opportunity ever given. He is offering you peace with God. That peace cost Him His blood.
His death for you leads to one of two things. It either leads to death, or it leads to life. That is the comparison Paul is making when he says life leading to life and death leading to death.
For the Christian, not the church member, but those who are truly saved, Jesus Christ leads to life because He is alive. Those of us that are saved worship a living Savior who gives us life. For those of you that have not been saved, it is the death of Christ that is going to lead you to eternal death.
Jesus Christ died for you and as you on Calvary, and if you reject what He did for you, that rejection is going to lead to eternal death. There are only two options, eternal life or eternal death.
There are points awarded for intentions.
“Lord, I intended to get saved.”
“Lord, I did some good things in the name of the church.”
“Lord, I am really a good person.”
And all of those things are probably true, but Jesus will tell you Depart from me because I never knew you. Good intentions, good deeds, and being a good person means nothing. Those things lead to eternal death if they are not done in Christ and for Christ.
Hell is not going to be any different for the person who intended to get saved. Hell is not going to be different for the person who did good deeds. If you reject the Gospel, the Gospel for you will be death leading to death, and you will die eventually and go to the place God is preparing for Satan and his angels.
God has done everything He can to keep you from going. As a matter of fact, the Bible tells us that Hell is intended for the Devil and his angels. Why does the Bible say that? Because God has done all He can to save you, and He cannot imagine anyone not accepting His offer of eternal life.
People just make stupid decisions all the time.
Friday, we saw an example of one of the stupidest decisions I have seen in a while. Zelenskyy, who has robbed America blind for years, thought it was a good idea to disrespect the President and Vice-President of the United States in front of the television in the Oval Office. It was a bad decision.
Even though that was a stupid decision, the stupidest decision you will ever make is rejecting the Gospel. It will even be more stupid than what Zelenskyy did Friday.
Friday, I really pushed the envelope on the separation of church and state at school as I shared the gospel with three 8th graders and handed out all kinds of stuff. We went class to class handing out stuff. I will probably receive some complaints, but that will be okay.
But a kid told me something that really stuck with me. I asked him if he were saved, and he said he was, and being the person I am, I asked him how he knew he was saved, and this is what he told me.
“I am saved because mom got the preacher to put his hand on my and head and read some Bible verses over me and that saved me.”
I told him that if that is all that he has done that he needed to get saved, and I proceeded to share the gospel with him.
Dear friend, a so-called preacher that would so deceive a soul by convincing them they are saved by something that preacher does is beyond me, and it is probably an example of one of Satan’s ministers being transformed into life.
The Gospel is life unto life and death unto death.
The young man then asked me if I could save him. I told him no, but I knew who could.
The gospel is life unto life and death unto death. I shared the Romans Road with the young man, and I am going to share it this morning.
Dear friend if you are lost, you have a void that can only be filled by Jesus Christ.
The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. As a matter of fact, the Bible says in Romans 6:23 that because we have sinned we die physically, but most importantly, because we sin we die spiritually. That is what I mean when I say the gospel is death unto death.
If you read Romans 3, you are going to discover what sin does to us, and how much we sin.
Romans 3:10-18
10 As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."13 "Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit"; "The poison of asps is under their lips";14 "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness."15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood;16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;17 And the way of peace they have not known."18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes."
Dear friend, these are actions of lost people. They should never be present in the church, but people in the church are the ones who have the quickest tempers, and you better believe in their thoughts they are quick to shed blood. It is ridiculous, and it must stop.
I will say this again. You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to think that your opinion is the only one that matters, and there is no room for negativity in the church. Amen, and that is all I have to say about that.
But the Bible does not stop there with the truth of our sin.
Romans 5:8
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God loved us so much that He sent and allowed Christ to die for us. Christ died on Calvary as me for me. His death made eternal life possible, but it also cemented my eternal death if I reject Him.
God does not stop with the wages of our sin is death.
Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Salvation is a gift. Salvation is impossible without God offering it as a gift. A gift offered in God’s grace that must be accepted in faith.
Romans 4:5
5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,
Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Dear friend, if you still have that hole in your life, what are you waiting on? Now, what do you have to do?
Romans 10:9-10
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
And dear friend it is that simple.
Now many people think that they need to stop doing this or that before they get saved. They think they are too bad to be saved. Well, dear friend, if you knew everything I had ever done, you would wonder how in the world God would save me. Some think they are too good and do not need to be saved. After all, they are members of the church.
Well, dear friend, everyone has to fill the void in his or her life, and that void will never be satisfied apart from the gospel. It is the power of life unto life and death unto death.
The last stop on the Romans Road is this.
Romans 10:13
13 For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
IN God’s eyes, you are a whoever. The whoever He loved so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for, and God will accept what Christ did for you on your behalf if you will only believe it in your heart and confess it with your mouth.
